About Artie
Hi folks, my name is Artie Hopkins.
I’d like to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in south Alabama in a little community called Styx River.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved country music. I started playing guitar at a really early age. I learned to play by listening to records by Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, and George Jones — real music.
In my teenage years, I started playing clubs and honky-tonks. I had the honor of playing with musicians who shared the same love for country music that I did. Over the years, I haven’t changed my tune — I’m still playing traditional country music.
I guess that’s why I started doing Alan Jackson tribute shows. I know there are still lots of people who enjoy the same kind of music that I do. I’ve been playing professionally for 48 years now, and with the support of my wife, kids, family, and friends, I’ll keep it going.
The one thing I always say when leaving other musicians is:
